Why don't some RPGs let you kill God? In this interview, Fallout: New Vegas, Pentiment, and Pillars of Eternity I & II director Josh Sawyer explains his decision not to let players do whatever they want in his games. Instead, he grounds them in worlds where they can't always bring about the outcomes they desire. It's a powerful reminder that great RPGs don't always give players everything they want, but instead ask them to live and exist within the constraints of a realistic, living, breathing world.
